Would you be interested in volunteering for Ryde Carnival Association?

Ryde Carnival Association is an entirely voluntary body entrusted with maintaining the 130+ year tradition of Ryde Carnival. Our prime responsibility is to safely plan the largest event of its kind in Ryde each year, ensuring that street closures are in place, providing insurance, first aid and stewarding, liaising with local councils and the police, as well as publicising the event to ensure that all the hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators all arrive at the right time, on the right day, in the right place.

We also need to negotiate support from our sponsors and collect cash from the crowds on the night, thinking up new ideas for fundraising and putting them into practice, managing the Processions, organising the judges, maintaining the website, updating Facebook, producing and selling the Programme, and so on.

It’s very rewarding work and you will become part of a great team that enjoys entertaining our home town of Ryde, the other carnival towns on the Island and elsewhere on the mainland.

So click on the button below and submit your information to Ryde Carnival Association.

Then there’s the float – we build it ourselves – the Carnival Royalty and Entourage, their costumes, all the hours perfecting the dance routines, chaperoning, transportation, taking part in all the Island Carnivals and more besides. There’s a lot to do!

We are always glad to hear from people who are considering volunteering for any aspect of this work. In particular, we need help with stewarding and collecting on the days of the carnival.

We are always happy for people to approach us with ideas for fundraising, and help in carrying these ideas out. Anyone interested in helping can email on rydecarnival@talktalk.net
