Come and enjoy these free Carnival Workshops this summer. You’ll learn exciting new skills, have loads of fun and take part in Ryde’s wonderful Carnival processions.

Flowerpot puppet – free carnival workshops

At Oakfield C of E Primary

Join New Carnival Company at any of their free carnival workshops and help create a large flowerpot person puppet to go on parade with the Waving the Flag ‘Garden Party’ entry in this year’s Ryde Carnival.
Come along, help create and have fun! All welcome.
Under 16’s accompanied by an adult.
Garden party celebrates Charles Dimmick, a Victorian nurseryman who ran several businesses in Ryde town centre – his plants were supplied to Osborne House for Queen Victoria.

Sewing seeds of Ryde – bookable workshops

At Department in Cross Street, Ryde
Wed 24th Aug – 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm
Thurs 25th Aug – 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm
Fri 26th Aug – 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm
Sat 27th Aug – 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm
Join Shademakers at Department in Cross street, Ryde to make large, detailed flowers, inspired by Charles Dimmick. The flowers will be attached to a wheeled structure that will move through the streets of Ryde during the carnival processions.
You can book more than one session. All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Free flag-making workshop

At Ryde Library, George Street
Wed 31st Aug 10:30am-noon
Join us in Ryde Library for this free workshop. Learn how to make a brightly coloured flag to wave at the carnival! All are welcome, children aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
