As in previous years, the procession routes will be closed to traffic on Carnival days and there will be diversions around the route that may affect residents of the affected roads. Here are the road closure details. To keep up to date with Ryde Carnival news please like our facebook page.
On 31st August the shorter Children’s Carnival route (Dover St, Park Rd, Star St, High St, Cross St, Melville St) will be closed from approx. 2,45 PM onwards and will not be fully open again until 4.30PM Upper Dover Street will close at 2pm.
On 1st September the Main Carnival route (Esplanade, Dover Street, Park Rd, Star St, High St, Union St) will be closed from approx. 6.45PM onwards and will not fully reopen again until 9PM.
On 3rd September the Illuminated Carnival route will be closed from approx. 8.15 PM onwards and will not fully reopen again until 11.30PM.
During the Main and Illuminated Carnivals it will not be possible for vehicles within the boundaries of Esplanade, Dover St, Park Rd/Star St, High St and Union St to exit, except under controlled conditions at Melville Street / Dover Street.
Residents and businesses needing to make a journey on the days of the Carnivals ( 31st August and 1st and 3rd September) are advised to depart before these times. Better still, leave your vehicle where it is and come and join in the festivities.
