This was the first year for Ryde Carnival doing a Carnival Spring Walk and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as did our group of walkers.

Thanks to Ryde Castle Hotel, The Star Coffee & Ale House, Bar 74 and PyroLight Performers for helping to make it a very memorable and enjoyable evening.

We had a very successful FREE Carnival Spring Walk through Ryde, which started at Ryde Castle Hotel on the Esplanade (where we managed to squeeze in a swift drink) and finished up at Bar 74 in Union Street with a magical performance by PyroLight Performers.

We walked some of the Carnival’s route at a gentle pace whilst finding out more about the history of Ryde and its Carnivals supported by Historic Ryde Society, with a middle stop-off at The Star Coffee & Ale House for some more refreshments, some memorabilia from past Carnivals and watched a video of the Ryde Carnival Parade from 1994.

We even had a visit from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert!

It was the perfect way to get into the Carnival spirit early!
